I was at Casa from April 15th, 1999 to June 26th, 2000. Just 14 months. Never made it past level 2. The staff finally asked my parents to pull me because I was a “bad example” to other students. I spent about half my stay in solitary confinement. It was always stupid little things that got me in trouble, a wrinkle in the blankets on my bottom bunk bed where someone stepped to make up the top bunk, a “search for contraband” that messed up my clothes in the 2 baskets under the bed before “inspections”, forgetting (or honestly not caring and willing to take the consiquences) to ask permission to stand and use the bathroom because I ended up with food poisoning. 3 violations in a week and into solitary confinement you went. They said I was “non-compliant” and “stubborn”. They were probably right. It serves me well now as a woman working as an industrial welder.

I’ve been looking for other former students on Facebook, but haven’t found any yet. I’d be happy to answer any questions about my stay in Mexico that anyone may have.

If you guys think it was bad when it shut down in 2004, you should hear the stories from a few years back. I’ve personally stomped the week old trash down with maggots crawling out in that make shift dump truck with my bare feet. I was also once on a 3 day punishment work project with no breaks and got beamed in the head with a basketball because I stopped digging for 2 seconds. I’ve seen a few people from casa around town and one of them is still my best friend. Justice Family Hoorah!

You are so full of shit and absolutely wrong. Obviously they got you. I was an addict. I’m sure more of one than you EVER were. That horrible, disgusting hell was something that NO child should EVER had to have gone through. I would NEVER send my child away no matter what. I will NEVER allow someone to do those things to my child & would kill the one who tried. Your poor children will probably live with the knowledge and horrible things you dealt with. I feel sorry for you, but you will pay for your words too. You sobered up because no one wants to be an addict and you had a way (clean and safe) to do it. NOT because of the abuse that CASA gave you.

If I say my son… who is seventeen can stay out late, and he is with his close friends, then it is ok with me. If he is at a friends house and wants to go get something at Denny’s, and walk home with the buddy system, it is ok with me. Don’t let that court keep my money, when my son and I need it for food, and rent.

In response to your math teacher very informative however I disagree about the standing part that is still considered as participating if you can stand why not recite it as well. A mute person will stand to show support because they can not speak. If a student that doesn’t believe in the pledge stands he is still perceived as participating. The key issue here is forcing and or not informing a student that they have a right to refuse after all this is an environment of teaching why not teach the children that they do not have to feel forced to participate in the pledge.

I appreciate your comment however I believe you are misinformed
giving your age of 18 years it’s understandable and forums like this is good for informing and getting informed. The pledge of allegiance has nothing to do with the soldiers that are fighting to keep our freedom intact if you asked a soldier what they are fighting for none of them would say a Flag. The pledge starts out by saying I pledge allegiance to the flag notice no mention of soldiers or freedom. I ask you to look up the definition of pledge and allegiance after reading these definitions see if you feel the same way. Sometimes we repeat what we heard or what has been told to us without finding out where it really came from and what was the real purpose. You have a mindset of let me research this before commenting or believing.

I was there for a year and a half and was there for the September 11 2004 closing of the facility. I was put originally in Dilligence and was moved to Freedom for my last 6 months there. I cant find anyone else who I can remember on Facebook which is weird but if anyone else was there before then or at that time feel free to email me or look me up on facebook via email.
